Digital Department of Education Technologies

History of the Department. The Information Technology Center was established in accordance with Resolution No. 230 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 23, 2001 “On measures to organize the development of the program for the development of computer and information technologies for 2001–2005 and to ensure broad access to the international information systems ‘Internet’,” as well as Order No. 23 of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 25, 2001 “On the establishment of Information Technology and Distance Learning Centers in the educational institutions of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education.”

In 2021, the Center was reorganized as the “Center for Digital Educational Technologies,” and in 2022, as a result of the expansion of its activities, this structure was granted the status of the “Department of Digital Educational Technologies.” The Department of Digital Educational Technologies is a division responsible for the introduction of modern information and communication technologies, the digitalization of the educational process, and ensuring the information security of the university infrastructure. The main goal of the Department is to effectively apply digital technologies in the university’s activities, ensure the security and stable functioning of information resources, and develop electronic learning systems.

Main directions and functions of the Department:

Ensuring information security:

  • Identifying information security threats arising at the university and informing the management in a timely manner.

  • Providing consulting services on information protection.

  • Monitoring internal and external threats, preventing unauthorized access, modification, or loss of data.

  • Continuously monitoring the security of information systems, resources, and databases.

Development of the electronic education system:

  • Organizing the management of the national “Electronic Education” network and monitoring its activities.

  • Leading electronic learning processes at the university and establishing cooperation with local and international higher education institutions.

  • Organizing computer literacy courses for students and staff.

Technical support and infrastructure development:

  • Organizing technical inspections and repair work of the university’s computer equipment.

  • Monitoring the work of computer operators and updating existing computer resources based on modern technologies.

  • Ensuring the stable and efficient operation of the Internet network and email services.

  • Monitoring the operation of copying equipment and providing technical maintenance.

Information management and monitoring:

  • Ensuring the modernity and reliability of the information transmission process.

  • Defining and controlling user privileges for the use of hardware, software, and information resources.

  • Analyzing user activities through system logs and monitoring the correctness of actions.

Software provision and services:

  • Creating software products on behalf of the university and organizing their sale within the framework of legislation.

  • Monitoring the stable operation of operating systems and application programs and promptly restoring them when problems arise.

International cooperation and innovations:

  • Studying international experience in the field of information security and organizing practical activities to prevent security incidents in the national segment.

  • Supporting the university’s digital development strategy through the introduction of innovative technologies.

The Department of Digital Educational Technologies is a central unit ensuring the university’s digital infrastructure and information security. The comprehensive tasks of the Department are aimed at creating a modern digital environment at the university, improving the quality of education, and reliably protecting information resources.

At present, the Department is engaged not only in technical maintenance but also actively contributes to the university’s digital transformation by developing electronic education, strengthening information security, and implementing innovative projects in the field of ICT.
